“Come possiamo vivere insieme?” è una domanda antica e urgente al tempo stesso. I Babilonesi se la ponevano mentre costruivano la loro torre. Aristotele se l’è posta mentre scriveva di politica. La sua risposta fu “la città”.
Napoli è gemellata con Baku, capitale dell’Azerbaigian, dal 1972. La somiglianza del golfo, della riviera e della latitudine quasi uguale hanno spinto le amministrazioni dell’epoca a stringere questa fratellanza affinché le due città si incontrassero per scambiare le loro culture. A queste somiglianze corrispondono anche differenze fondamentali.
Vi invitiamo ad analizzare ed interrogarvi su differenze e somiglianze di queste due città partendo dal punto di vista di due spazi autogestiti dalla comunità : l’asilo (a Napoli) e Salaam cinema (a Baku) per approfondire meglio le sfide che affrontano e il ruolo che rivestono nella vita culturale e politica delle loro rispettive città
Dopo una breve presentazione del Cinema Salaam (maggiori informazioni qui sotto)* passeremo alla discussione e cercheremo di rispondere alla domanda “Come possiamo vivere insieme?
Parleremo delle comunità e dei loro bisogni e penseremo a come costruire una migliore comunicazione e coinvolgerle in diverse attività e a come affrontare e trovare soluzioni creative per le sfide all’interno e con le comunità.
Cercheremo assieme di definire il concetto di spazio sicuro e di quale sia il ruolo dell’ inclusività nella sua costruzione ; penseremo all’educazione e ci interrogheremo su come debba essere gestita una struttura affinché possa realmente essere definita orizzontale e del motivo per cui è fondamentale metterla sempre in discussione

Di sicuro, questi sono temi, domande e preoccupazioni che sono continuamente nella mente sia di L’Asilo che di Salaam e che ora abbiamo la possibilità di considerare insieme.
Parliamo delle speranze e delle paure del futuro e di qualsiasi luogo in cui questa discussione ci porterà.

Salaam Cinema è uno spazio cinematografico e artistico a base comunitaria, gestito da un team di creativi con l’obiettivo di creare consapevolezza sociale attraverso le pratiche artistiche e costruire ponti tra comunità, classi sociali e culture.
Il team ha una struttura organizzativa orizzontale e gestisce lo spazio secondo i principi fondamentali di inclusività, uguaglianza e diversità.
Salaam Cinema si impegna a creare uno spazio sicuro per i gruppi isolati nelle società conservatrici, a promuovere un ambiente per lo sviluppo personale delle donne e dei membri lgbtqi+, a realizzare una programmazione cinematografica e artistica incentrata sui film della regione e ad aumentare la rappresentanza delle donne e degli lgbtqi+.

“How can we live together?” is a question which is simultaneously ancient and urgent. The Babylonians asked it as they were building their tower. Aristotle asked it when he was writing about politics. His answer was “the city.”
Naples has been twinned with Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, since 1972. The similarity of the gulf, the riviera, and the almost equal latitude led the administrations of the time to forge this brotherhood so that the two cities would come together to exchange their cultures. With these similarities come also fundamental differences.
We would like to invite you to explore and exchange these differences and similarities from the perspective of two community-run spaces in Naples(L’asilo) and Baku(Salaam Cinema) and their challenges and role in the cultural, political life of the city.
After a short presentation about Salaam Cinema (more info below)* we will jump to discussion and try to answer the question “ How can we live together?
We will talk about communities and their needs and think about how we can build better communication and engage them in different activities and how we deal and find creative solutions for challenges within and with communities.
Will we try to define the meaning of “safe space”? And how inclusive we can be within this concept.
We will rethink education and find new ways to do it.
And ask ourselves what a truly Horizontal structure should look like? And why do we always need to question it?

For sure, these are themes, questions, and concerns that are continuously on the mind of both l’asilo and Salaam which we now have the chance to consider together.
